Having earlier in the week being named the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Player of the Week for the second time this season, Barton Community College women's soccer player Bianca Barron added the national distinction to her accomplishments being named the NJCAA Player of the Week.  Leading the No. 19 ranked Lady Cougars in two victories last week, Barron connected on each of her three shots on goal accounting for eight points to earn her fourth career weekly conference honor as the sophomore from Utah climbed further up the ranks of the Barton history book.  In last Saturday's two goal and two assist performance against Pratt Community College, Barron moved into the No. 2 slot in career goals (50),  the fifth best mark in career assists (14), and ranks fourth all-time in career points scored (114).

Barton concluded the regular season Wednesday at Garden City Community College, capturing a 5-0 win to conclude regular season play at 11-1-1 in conference and 12-3-1 overall.  The victory also assured the Lady Cougars with at least a second place tie in the final Jayhawk Conference standings with Johnson County Community College and most likely the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Region VI playoffs.  Barton will now play the waiting game until next week to see who the Lady Cougars will host in first round region play on either November 2nd or 3rd.

Barron becomes the second Lady Cougar to earn both the conference and national award as goalkeeper Stephanie Lomas won the award consecutively in weeks seven and eight.  Barron and Lomas combined with the No. 20 ranked men's soccer team's Soriba "Ebu" Camara and Mauricio Vargas have won eleven conference weekly awards and five national weekly awards.
