Barton Wrestling wraps up pre-holiday schedule at Loosbrock Duals #GoBarton

Highlighted by Avery Wolf and Nathan Agudzi-Addo's strong performances, the Barton Community College wrestling team concluded the pre-holiday schedule Friday afternoon at the Loosbrock Duals held inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium in Atchison, KS.

Open at two weights throughout the event, the Cougars would drop all four duals on the day. Tied 27-27 at the conclusion of the opening dual with Otero Junior College, the Cougars would fall on the wrong end of the match points tiebreaker. Competing against four-year programs in the final three duals, Barton would drop a 39-12 result to Texas Wesleyan University, then falling by a sore of 32-21 to host Benedictine College while ending the day suffering a 37-12 outcome to Waldorf University.

Wolf 133-division and Agudzi-Addo 285 division led the Cougars on the afternoon recording 3-1 records on the mat.

Sidelined for the last month due to an injury sustained, Wolf returned to the mat in full force distributing three mat flatteners for his trio of victories, while Agudzi-Addo backed his runner-up performance at last weekend's Cougar Open dispensing a pair of back flatteners and 14-8 decision.

Barton will have nearly a month layoff before hitting a busy January stretch which features five competition dates as conference duals begin January 10th in hosting 11th ranked Labette Community College and Cowley College.

vs Otero Junior College
The Cougars opened its competition against lone two-year program Otero Junior College securing a trio of victories in the six matches but fell short 27-27 following tiebreaking procedures on match points. The Cougars' wins came from Wolf 133 division on a 1:37 pin, Ethan Boles with a 9-4 decision in the 157 division and Agudzi-Addo's 1:53 fall in the 285 division. In addition to the two open classes, the Cougars benefitted behind the Rattlers being open at 141 and 184 handing Jarret Mader and Edgar Duarte Quiroz forfeit victories.

vs Texas Wesleyan University
Barton's clash with Texas Wesleyan University wouldn't fare as well with Wolf's 4:17 fall in the 133 class producing the Cougars lone victory on the mat against the Rams while Stephan Baldwin notched Barton's other dual points receiving an open weight win.

vs Benedictine College
Taking on host Benedictine in the third dual of the day, the Cougars fabricated their most mat wins on the day collecting four victories. Wolf dialed up the first of three straight Barton pins with Jarret Mader 141 division and Kayden Blake 149 division adding first period falls to give Barton its' last match lead 18-6. Falling in the next five matches, Agudzi-Addo settled the final score of the daul at 32-21 collecting a 14-8 decision in the 285 class.

Barton would settle for just a pair of victories in their final dual against Waldorf University. Cohen Suchy became the ninth different Cougar to pickup a victory on the day furnishing a 1:14 fall in the 149 division while Agudzi-Addo finished his day chalking up his second flattening in the 285 division
