Little takes over Barton Wrestling program #GoBarton
Little takes over Barton Wrestling program.
The Barton Community College Board of Trustees recently approved the hiring of Brad Little to become the second Head Coach in Barton Wrestling history.
"Coach Little brings to Barton a wealth of wrestling experience including a decorated career as a high school and collegiate wrestler, said Barton Athletic Director Trevor Rolfs. "His competitive nature should bode very well in not only recruiting, but also as it relates to instruction in the wrestling room. As important as any other attribute, Coach Littler has great understanding of what it means to be a student athlete."
Little comes to Barton after serving as a Graduate Assistant at Fort Hays State University from 2019-2021. Little will take over as head coach for the first time in his young career, replacing the vacancy of the Cougars' first and lone head coach of the program as Mike Bammes announced his resignation earlier in the month to pursue other interests.
"I look forward to him carrying on the tradition built by Coach Bammes who put Barton Wrestling on the map immediately when we started the program just six years ago," Rolfs said.
While at Hays, Little helped coach three NCAA DII All-Americans while spending time helping orchestrate practices as well as assist with the coaching of student-athletes at tournaments and open meets.
A native of Wichita, Kansas, Little attended Derby High School where he was a Class 6A three-time state placer. Little placed 3rd in 2009, 2nd in 2010, and capped off his senior year with the 2011 state championship.
Following high school, Little became a member of the FHSU squad from 2011-2016 where he served as a key component to the Tigers in the middleweight classes (149, 157, and 165). A career mark of 100-61 as a Tiger, Little was a two-time national qualifier including garnering 2016 All-American status his senior season at 149 pounds.
Graduating from FHSU in the fall of 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, Little was a graduate assistant coach for the Tigers from 2019 until obtaining his Master's degree in Health and Human Performance in May 2021.
