12th ranked Barton women's golf opens conference season with second place finish #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's golf team opened up the spring season with a second place finish at the KJCCC Meet No. 1 held the past two days at Dodge City's Mariah Hills Golf Course.

Barton, ranked 12th in the latest national poll, stayed consistent throughout the two days of competition carding 331 and 333 rounds to finish with an 88-over 664. Host and No. 3 ranked Dodge City Community College grabbed the top three individual spots and four of the top six in winning the meet with a 44-over 620 while Fort Scott Community College placed third at 149-over 725.

Mathanee Pandee carded twin 81 rounds to place fourth at 18-over 162 to lead four Cougars in the top nine of the twenty-three entry field.

Pornnapa Inmee climbed two spots after an opening 83 round to card Barton's low round of the meet with a 80 to move into the 6th spot at 19-over 163.

Also in the top nine were Paulina Villavicencio at 24-over 168 (82-86) for 7th while Pawinee Sukasem placed 9th at 27-over 171 (85-86).

The remaining four Cougar entries all improved on their second rounds with Matilyn Newman leading the group moving up to the 11th spot at 32-over 176 (90-86). Sasha Guinsbourg made the tournament's largest second day improvement and move up the leaderboard shaving thirteen strokes off her opening round of 96 in carding a team third best 83 closing round for a 13th place 35-over 179.

Rounding out the entries were Jalyn Turner in 18th at 47-over 191 (98-93) and Haleigh Spray in 19th at 49-over 193 (99-94).

The Cougars are back on the course this week in hosting the KJCCC's second meet of the season held Friday and Saturday at Lake Barton Golf Course. Friday's action set to begin at 1:00 p.m. with Saturday's closing round starting at 9:00 a.m.
