Barton Bowling concludes regular season at Redhawk Challenge; Lady Cougars finish runner-up #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's and women's bowling teams wrapped up the regular season this weekend at the Redhawk Challenge held at Maple Lanes in Waterloo, IA.

Competing head to head against the nine fielded teams within five individual games on Saturday and 16 bakers on Sunday, the Lady Cougars finished runner-up with a 5-4 record against and pin count 6,886.

NAIA nationally ranked Mounty Mercy claimed the team title with an 8,031 pinfall and perfect 9-0 head-to-head record.

Jasmine Bridges led the Cougars individual placings with 909 total pins for a 13th place finish and average score 181.8. The sophomore rang up her top single game score of 213 in the opening game for the team's highest single round.

On the men's side, Barton finished seventh in the field of 13 teams with a 4-5 head-to-head record and total pin accumulation of 7,162. In Saturday's five individual games the Cougars constructed a 2-3 record before finishing Sunday's baker rounds 2-2 against the field.

NAIA powerhouse Mount Mercy took the team title with an 8-1 record and pin count of 8,625 while Quincy College earned the runner-up spot at 7-2 edging Coe College on the tiebreaking grand total pin count.  

Braden Boswell paced the Barton men individually with a 19th place 959 pin count. Averaging 191.8 per game, Boswell turned in a top game 206 in the first of his five tossed games.

Barton will have the weekend off to prepare for the 2024 NJCAA Bowling Championships Held March 1st-2nd at the Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing, MI.
