Barton women wrap up regular season with thirty-point victory at Colby; Cougars' playoff run begins Tuesday at home #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's basketball team wrapped up its regular season Tuesday night on the road with a 62-32 victory at Colby Community College.

Leading by just one at the halftime break, Barton held Colby to just four third quarter points in outscoring the Trojans 41-12 in the final twenty minutes in picking up the Cougars' 8th straight victory of the series.

Concluding the conference season fourth in the standings at 16-8, Barton improves to 21-9 on the year while Colby finishes 12th at 4-20 and 8-21 overall.

In virtue of its top four conference finish, Barton assumes the No. 4 seed for the Region VI Tournament and receives a first-round bye. The Cougars will then host a quarterfinal round matchup on Tuesday versus Saturday's victor of 5th seeded Coffeyville hosting 12th seeded Colby.  Game time set for 5:30 p.m. with free admission for attendees.

Nine Cougars contributed to the evening's point total in being led by the inside the paint double-double performances from Vera Ojenuwa and reigning KJCCC Player of the Week Vivian Onugha.  Ojenuwa led the scoring with 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her 15th of the season while Onugha led in rebounding with 12 while adding 10 points for her 12th double-double of the season.

Quezia Bertoni's 10 points rounded out the double digit scoring with Darby Smith and Tatum Boettjer each dialing up a pair of long balls adding seven and six points respectively.

Aryanna Perez's 11 points off the bench on 3-of-14 shooting led the Trojans with Sophie Bennet contributing 8 points while Shelia Lee hauled down a team leading 9 rebounds.

Barton connected on 43.1% of their shots for the evening, 7-of-13 (53.8%) from long distance while Colby was held to just 26.1% from the field but was 35.3% (6-17) from beyond the arc.
