Coming off a loss in part to the opponent's season high long range shooting, Saturday evening at the Max L. Jones Fieldhouse it was the women of Barton Community College's time to launch in an 85-65 victory at Northwest Kansas Technical College.
The Cougars knocked down 13 three-pointers on the night led by Tatum Boettjer matching career highs of seven triples on 7-13 shooting for 21 points with fellow sophomore Darby Smith additionally posting career highs on 3-of-6 long distance connections for 9 points.
In a shootout of first half action consisting of 17 combined three-pointers, Barton sank nine with Boettjer and Smith draining four and three respectively leading the Cougars to a 44-34 halftime edge.
Barton put the Mavericks in the tail lights coming out of the locker room behind a 16-2 start leading to a 24-6 third frame score in building out a 33-point advantage 6:02 left in the contest to remain unbeaten in eight trips to the Fieldhouse.
Remaining steady for fourth place in the conference at 13-5, Barton improves to 18-6 overall while NW Tech slides to 1-16 in league and 2-19 on the season.
Next up for the Cougars is a Wednesday 5:30 p.m. tip hosting Seward County Community College prior to Saturday's road trip to Coffeyville.
Joining Boettjer in double figures was the two-headed, inside attack of Vera Ojenuwa's 17 points, 7 rebounds, and a team leading 4 steals with Vivian Onugha posting her 9th double-double of the year by scoring 11 points and grabbing 14 rebounds helping Barton to a plus-17 rebound edge.
Point guard Quezia Bertoni flirted with a double-double scoring 8 points and dishing out 9 assists as McKenna Vogl grabbed 9 rebounds, recorded a trio of thefts, and added 5 points.
Barton was 13-of-32 from deep, slightly better than their overall shooting percentage of 40.3%, meanwhile NW Tech finished at 33.3% with a better 34.3% (12-of-35) beyond the arc.
The Mavericks were led by Serena Lee's 6-of-12 three-point shooting for 26 points, Alexzandria Thompson connected on 3-of-7 treys for 14 points, and Jalynn Alexander put together a double-double night of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
