Revenge is said to be best served cold and the Barton Community College women's basketball team did just that on Hall of Fame Night by dominating three quarters of action Saturday for a blow out party 80-49 victory hosting Pratt Community College.
Following a tightly played opening quarter with McKenna Vogl's fifth point of the frame giving Barton a two point edge, the Cougars increased their lead by nine by the halftime break at 38-27.
The Cougars put the Beavers in the taillights in the third quarter by tacking on eighteen more points to the margin to later stretch the lead to its largest at thirty-three.
Dropping the first of the two season meetings back on November 18 in Pratt, Barton held the Beavers to no more than 14 points each quarter, 50 points less than the previous meeting, and twenty-two points below one of the region's highest scoring team's average.
Victors of three straight and receiving votes in the latest national poll, Barton improves to 10-4 for fourth place in conference play and 15-5 overall while Pratt falls to 3-11 in league and 8-11 on the season.
The Cougars remain home for their next contest coming Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. hosting fifth place Cloud County Community College (8-6, 12-7).
Fresh off career highs Wednesday at Independence, Vera Ojenuwa again reset her personal highs by putting up 28 points while hauling down a program 5th best, 23 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the year.
Also posting a double-double, the region's assist leader Quezia Bertoni dished out 11 dimes on the night with 14 points and recorded a game high three steals.
Tatum Boettjer rounded out the Cougars' double-digits scorers with 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists, knocking down 4-of 10 from beyond the arc including following Grace John's triple to open second quarter action to quickly push the margin to eight.
John finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds as Vivian Onugha added 5 points and 7 rebounds.
Vogl gave the Cougars a season high 23 minutes off the bench, finishing with 7 points and 5 rebounds in helping the Cougars to a plus-34 point differential in the paint and a plus-24 rebound advantage.
Princess Anderson led the Beavers in scoring with 15 points on 6-of-17 shooting, ten points below the region leader's average on the season. Isis Sanders added 11 points with Hoisington native Macy Hanzlick putting up 10 points and 10 rebounds for her 3rd double-double of the year.
Barton shot 45.7% on the evening, 6-of-19 from beyond the arc while holding Pratt to just 25.7% shooting and 7-of-32 (21.9%) from long distance in a far cry from their previous meeting's 50% from the field including 17-of-39 three-pointers.
