Barton women end slide with home win over Colby #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's basketball team snapped its two game slide against ranked opponents with a cruise control 64-46 home victory Saturday against Colby Community College. 

The Cougars put up 25 first quarter points to eventually lead by thirty early in the fourth frame to cruise to their seventh straight victory in the series.

Barton concludes the first trip through the conference slate in fourth place at 8-4 in league and 13-5 overall while Colby slips to 1-11 and 5-12 on the season.

Next up is a Wednesday trip to Independence Community College for a 5:30 p.m. tip before returning home next Saturday on Hall of Fame Day in hosting Pratt Community College in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

All eleven Cougars saw floor action with nine reaching the scoring column in being led by Vera Ojenuwa coming off the bench for a 21 point and 5 rebound effort.

Vivian Onugha was the only other Cougar in double-digits with 15 points, scoring 11 points and grabbing all her 9 rebounds in first half action.

League assist leaders Quezia Bertoni dished our four with Grace John chalking up 3 as the duo also combined for three steals.

Colby also had two players reaching double figures with Sofia Lopez scoring 22 points with Stella McIntyre adding 11 points in a combined 5-of-14 effort behind the arc.
