Third quarter outburst leads Barton women to victory over Cowley, Clark notches win No. 150 at the helm #GoBarton

A 12-0 third quarter run provided the difference maker Wednesday evening at the Barton Gym as the Barton Community College women's basketball team rolled on to a 67-52 victory hosting Cowley College.

The Cougars scored the evening's first seven points, fell behind by three late in the second quarter before closing out the half with six straight for a three point halftime edge.

Leading by four near the mid-point of the third frame, Barton's 12-0 run over the course of nearly four minutes put Cowley in the taillights as the then sixteen point lead grew to twenty in the early stages of the fourth as the Cougars' rolled to their fourth straight win hosting the Tigers.

The 150th head coaching victory under Alan Clark improves the Cougars to 3-1 in conference play and 7-2 overall while Cowley falls to 1-3 in league and 7-3 on the season.

Barton will next have its toughest test of the season on Saturday in traveling to El Dorado for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off at 3rd ranked Butler Community College.

The Cougars outrebounded Cowley by fourteen on the evening, getting 21 rebounds and 38 points from the inside play of Vera Ojenuwa and Vivian Onugha. Ojenuwa led all players with a career high 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting with 7 rebounds while Onugha tied a career high with 16 points and 14 rebounds for her third straight double-double.

Tatum Boettjer led the Cougars' outside game with 17 points, knocking down 5-of-9 from long distance including two coming on the front and back end of the Cougars' third quarter twelve point run.

Quezia Bertoni dished out 6 of the Cougars' eighteen assists, adding 7 points and leading the squad with two steals.

Zuzanna Komor's 18 points off the bench helped Cowley to a plus-20 point differential from the reserves while Anna Przyszlak contributed a double-double effort in the starting lineup of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
