Five days and life on the road can make a big difference as the 19th ranked Barton Community College women's basketball team found out Wednesday evening in El Reno, Oklahoma, with the Cougars being knocked from the unbeaten on a 68-67 overtime loss at Redlands Community College.

Having beat Redlands by thirty-three points last Friday at the Barton Gym, Barton had to overcome a ten point fourth quarter deficit to force overtime before coming up short on its last three possessions of the extra frame to fully erase an early six point hole.

The loss drops Barton to 4-1 on the season while Redlands, who also lost to Hutchinson in last weekend's Best Western Angus Inn/Cougar Booster Club Classic, improves to 6-2 following the revenge match-up victory.

Wrapping up the non-conference slate of the early season, Barton now turns its sights to conference play beginning Saturday in a 2:00 p.m. hosting of Independence Community College.

Grace John led three Cougars in double-figures with 15 points, seven points coming in the third quarter helping Barton stay within striking range before draining a three-pointer late in the fourth frame to force overtime.

Scoring eight points in the opening quarter, Vera Ojenuwa was saddled with foul troubles to finish with 12 points.

Quezia Bertoni's trey midway through the fourth period capped Barton's 9-0 run slicing into the ten point deficit, finished with 11 points to round out the Cougars' double-digit scorers.

Coming off the bench Emma Toombs posted a career high 9 points on three made long balls, the first giving Barton a 21-17 edge after the first quarter with the second giving Barton its final lead of 24-22 early in the second frame.
