The 16th ranked Barton Community College women's basketball team scored Tuesday evening's first four points at the Barton Gym and never looked back in rolling to a 69-36 win over Cloud County Community College in the quarterfinal round of the Region VI playoffs.

Advancing to the semifinals for the fifth straight season, the second seeded Cougars take a 26-5 record to the remaining four to face third seeded Butler Community College in Friday's 5:00 p.m. contest at Friends University in Wichita. The Grizzlies, receiving votes in the final NJCAA poll of the season, destroyed 11th seeded Garden City 74-47 at the Power Plant improving to 24-6 on the year. Seventh seeded Cloud County ends the season at 17-14.

Three of Barton's sophomores closed out their Barton Gym careers by leading the Cougars with double-digit performances. Brennan Kirchhoff knocked down a career high 5-of-9 behind the arc finishing with 19 points to lead all scorers, coming up a point shy of closing out her home floor with a career best total. Double-double machine Jenny Nkem Womsi posted her 22nd of the season by scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to take over the second spot on the career program list while Morgan Meyers canned a pair of treys on the way to a 10 point performance.

Alize Ruiz led Cloud County with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

The Cougars shot over 50% in two of the quarters, finishing at 45% with 21 assists leading to 27 field goals led by the four dimes each from Acorionna Lard and Quezia Bertoni.

Barton outrebounded the T-Birds by fifteen with a defensive effort holding Cloud County to just 23.2% and their lowest scoring output in the now eighty game series history.
