Hall's career night lifts 18th ranked Barton women past Division II 6th ranked Labette #GoBarton

Trailing by one in the early stages of the final quarter Saturday night, the 18th ranked Barton Community College women's basketball team outscored the visiting Division II 6th ranked Cardinals of Labette Community College by sixteen points the rest of the way in wrapping up the weekend's Best Western Angus Inn and Cougar Booster Club Classic with a 72-57 victory.

The Cougars improve to 6-0 on the season while Labette takes its second loss against Division I ranked opponents in dropping to 4-2.

Barton will now turn its sights on conference play beginning with a trip on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip at Garden City Community College.

Following a Labette three-pointer to open the final period, the Cougars went on a pivotal 8-0 run in the next three minutes in turning the tide while holding the Cardinals without a field goal until the 5:30 mark. Building out a twelve point margin, the Cougars' answered Labette's final charge of five straight to score the game's final eight points of the victory.

Mikaela Hall was a big part of the Cougars' twenty-nine point quarter, scoring ten of her career high 25 points in the period to lead all scorers. Also contributing to the big quarter was Brennan Kirchhoff, knocking down one of her four three-pointers during the game toward tying her career high 20 points. Jenny Nkem Womsi dropped her third straight double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, while Morgan Meyers led the Cougars' 18 assists on 26 made field goals by distributing seven.

Janai Smith came off the bench to lead Labette in scoring with 15 points and four steals, being joined in double figures by Emery Maze's 10 points behind 3-of-5 long range shooting.
