Barton's Ulabo selected to NJCAA Basketball All-America 2nd Team #GoBarton

Barton's women's basketball player Queen Ulabo earns 2021 NJCAA 2nd Team All-America honors

Queen Ulabo of the Barton Community College women's basketball team has been named 2nd Team All-America announced by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Ulabo's award is the first for the Barton women's program since Courtney Sturdivant's 3rd team distinction in 2008 and eighth overall in 44 years of competition.

The fourth leading scorer in Region VI this season at 16.3 points per game, Ulabo also did it on the boards with a sixth best haul of 9.0 rebounds per contest. The sophomore from Baylesa, Nigeria, posted ten double-double efforts over the course of the season including consecutive performances in the Region VI semifinal and championship games to close out her Barton career.

Ulabo reached double figures in 23 of the Cougars' 26 games, recording a career high 30 points in the season's third game of the year versus Allen. Equally impressive throughout the season was Ulabo's glass cleaning abilities in hauling down ten or more rebounds twelve times, matching a season best 13 boards three times, six less than her program fifth best 20 total achieved during her freshman campaign.

The All-America honor adds to Ulabo's season accomplishments in earlier being named to the first team of Region VI and the All-KJCCC West squad and Week 11's KJCCC Player of the Week award.

The Cougars finished the season 20-6 and were the Region VI Division I runner-ups for the second consecutive year.
