The Barton Community College women's basketball team was simply outplayed Wednesday night at the Barton Gym as the No. 3 ranked Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College ran away with a 93-48 victory.

The Cougars drop to 7-5 in conference play and 14-7 overall while Hutchinson wins their 20th straight in the series improving to 13-0 and 22-0 on the season. Barton will look to rebound on Saturday as Garden City Community College comes to the Barton Gym for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

Hutchinson jumped out to a 6-0 before burying Cougars in a 31-8 hole at the end of the first quarter behind additional runs of fifteen and another six straight.

A nine point stretch to open the second and another five point streak pushed the lead to thirty-seven before a 9-2 Barton stretch of points getting five from Mallory Miller and four from Richelle Turney cut the deficit to thirty to the halftime locker room.

Shooting just 25% from the floor in first half action while the Blue Dragons scorched the nets for nearly 64%, Barton stayed cold while compounding the problems with eleven second half turnovers.

Putting the dagger in the Cougars with a 15-2 spurt to open the third, the Blue Dragons' lead of forty-three grew by five in the next four minutes before ending the frame with a forty-six point margin.

Behind a pair of Turney free throws and a Jaylin Stapleton drive through the paint, Barton was able to cut it back to forty-two but eleven straight Hutchinson points exploded the lead to a game high fifty-three point margin with 5:26 to play.

The last of Fatou Ndao's six points in the final four minutes left the final dust of the Hutchinson victory at forty-five marking the worst defeat in the eighty-nine game series.

Turney and Ndao were the lone Cougars in double-digits finishing with fourteen and ten respectively. Reigning player of the week Taylor Regan finished with nine points and a team high eight rebounds while Stapleton, the Cougars leading scorer on the season, finished seven points below her season average.

Leading the Blue Dragons was Dejanae Roebuck with twenty-four points and nine rebounds. Milan Schimmel came off the bench for fifteen points while Tia Bradshaw and Makayla Vannett finished with thirteen and ten points respectively.
