The Barton Community College women's basketball team shook off a poor shooting Wednesday night to grind out a 45-42 comeback victory at Dodge City Community College.

The victory snaps Barton's two-game slide, improving the Cougars to 5-2 in conference play and 12-5 on the year while dropping the Conquistadors to 4-5 and 9-9 overall. The Cougars return to the Barton Gym on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off hosting Colby Community College.

Barton shook up its lineup to begin the contest with the teams mudding up the first quarter to the tune of a 7-6 Dodge City advantage, extending the lead by six in the second frame for a 22-15 halftime score.

The Cougars flipped the script in second half action, tying the game at 24 on Jaylin Stapleton's three pointer, before rolling out to a 32-30 lead by the end of the quarter. Stapleton was the lone Cougar double-digit scorer on the night, coming off the bench for eleven points and dishing out four of Barton's ten assists. Taylor Regan flirted with a double-double in putting nine in the scoring column and grabbing eight rebounds.

Dodge City also had one double-digit scorer as Alec Fitts led the Conquistadors with a near double-double performance of nineteen points and nine rebounds.

Barton shot a season low 29.8% from the field leading to the Cougars' lowest scoring output in the eighty-four game series. Defensively, the Cougars held Dodge City to just 29% from the field in posting the second fewest points against Barton this season.
