Barton women's basketball bench celebrates a made three-pointer

The Barton Community College women's basketball team earned its biggest win of the season, leading virtually throughout the entire contest to knock off 10th ranked Butler Community College 83-50 Saturday night at the Barton Gym.

The victory improves Barton to 4-1 in conference play while dropping Butler to 4-2 in league play and 13-2 overall. Next up is a Wednesday trip to Concordia for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off at Cloud County Community College (4-2, 11-4).

Jaylin Stapleton led all players, knocking down a trio of three-point shots on the way to a season high twenty-two points with four assists while Richelle Turney and Fatou Ndao each contributed twelve points off the bench. Taylor Regan helped the Cougars outrebound the Grizzlies by fourteen in gathering thirteen rebounds to go along with six points.

Coming off the bench for the Grizzlies, Awreona Ransom led the squad with ten points as Kyla Collins led the team with five boards.

Trailing only after the contest's opening bucket, Barton led by fifteen after the first quarter before doubling up the Grizzlies in the second behind 48% shooting for a 38-23 halftime margin.

Normally a 40% shooting Butler team, the Grizzlies' 28% first half shooting went even chillier in the second making just 25% from the field. The ice cold Butler shooting coupled with thirty-one turnovers set the stage for the big Barton win as the Cougars blew open the game in the third with a twenty point difference to evenutally win by 33, its largest margin since the 2008 season.

The Cougars played all fourteen players in the game in finishing at 46% from the field while burying 10-19 from beyond the arc.
