Lady Cougars double-up Hesston in final tune-up for conference action #GoBarton

Barton women's basketball player Taylor Nichols connects on one of her two three-pointers on the night

The Barton Community College women's basketball jumped out to a thirteen point lead in Wednesday's opening five minutes at the Barton Gym to roll 114-57 over Hesston College.

Barton completes the non-conference tune-up portion of the schedule at 6-1 heading into Saturday's 5:30 p.m. Jayhawk opener at Cowley College. Hesston falls to 1-10 on the year in the Larks' tenth straight defeat.

Twelve players dotted the scoring column with Jaylin Stapleton racking up twelve of her eighteen game high points in first half action to lead six Cougars in double figures while Taylor Nichols' second half effort off the bench was close behind with seventeen points. Taylor Regan's twelve points along with ten rebounds posted her third double-double of the year while Mallory Miller buryied her first three long range shots finishing 4-of-8 behind the arc to also splash twelve points on the scoreboard. Richelle Turney dropped two behind the arc to finish with eleven points in contributing to Barton's 13-of-24 three-point 54% shooting. Ryen White just missed her first career double-double with nine points and a career high nine rebounds as the Cougars held a twenty-five rebound edge on the night.

Three Larks hit the double digits with Essence Tolson leading the squad with fifteen as Denazia Jeffers and Millaya Bray finished with thirteen and twelve respectively.

Barton's point outburst was the most since the 2015 season when the Cougars ran away from Sterling College's junior varsity squad 131-30.
