A rough second quarter set the stage Wednesday night in Coffeyville and spelled doom for the Barton Community College women's basketball team as the Lady Cougars were blown out 76-51 by Coffeyville Community College. The fifth straight road loss on the season drops Barton to 7-5 in Jayhawk Conference play and 10-6 on the season while Coffeyville improves to 7-5 as well and 9-7 overall. Barton returns to the friendly confines of the Barton Gym for their next contest, a 5:30 p.m. tip on Saturday hosting Neosho County Community College.

The Lady Cougars led early in the action but a 10-0 Coffeyville run built an eight point lead. Seven straight by Barton including Juliana Chagas' old fashioned three point play cut the margin to one but a Raven three-pointer at the buzzer gave the host a four point lead after the first frame.

Coffeyville kept rolling in the infamous second quarter scoring the first eleven points before a Ryen White dish to Micaela Jellison stopped the fourteen point run. The Ravens would pile up their third 10-plus scoring stretch of first half action tacking on thirteen more with Barton getting just their second field goal of the quarter coming with two seconds before the buzzer as the Lady Cougars were outscored 24-4.

Consecutive buckets by Jellison and Chagas began third quarter action but Coffeyville answered with five straight to halt the run. The Ravens continued to increase their lead in the quarter by just two as the Lady Cougars played more even but still trailed by a big twenty-seven point margin headed to the fourth quarter.

Twenty-five was the closet Barton could close in the final ten minutes as the Ravens held serve to match its largest margin of victory in the series.

Chagas ran her double-digit streak to four games in leading the Lady Cougars with ten points while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists. Barton led in rebounding by two, getting nine from Jellison.

Lucy Burke led all scorers dropping 7-of-12 from beyond the arc for twenty-three points. Sky Jasper added thirteen while T'era Fullove grabbed a team high nine rebounds.
