The Barton Community College women shook off a sluggish second quarter to end up rolling to a 79-51 victory Saturday night over Pratt Community College at the Barton Gym. The third straight victory over the Beavers in the series improved Barton to 7-4 in Jayhawk Conference play and 10-5 on the season while Pratt remains winless in the rugged Jayhawk at 0-11 and 1-13 overall. Next on the slate is a Wednesday trip to southeast Kansas as the Lady Cougars travel to Coffeyville Community College (6-5, 8-7) for a 5:30 p.m. tip at Nellis Hall Gymnasium.

The Lady Cougars scored the first thirteen points of the game, not allowing a Pratt field goal until 4:25 had clicked off the clock. Barton would knock down four of their eleven three-pointers in the quarter, two each by Juliana Chagas and Mallory Miller, to build a 25-14 after the first ten minutes.

Pratt made a game of the second quarter taking the first seven points to draw within four but Barton took the next six getting a spark off the bench with four points coming from Natasha Dolinsky. The Beavers would fire back with their own six straight but the four point deficit would be the closest they would come the rest of the way as a Jaylin Stapleton three-ball would halt the surge.

The teams went toe-to-toe in the third for the first five minutes before Fatou Ndao buckets to bookend a 9-0 run to close out the frame. Chagas' four straight took the margin over twenty to begin the final period as the Lady Cougars cruised to the big win.

Chagas and Miller led the Lady Cougars with fifteen points each, going a combined 8-of-12 from behind the arc as Barton made its second most three-pointers in a game this season. Micaela Jellison led the first half scoring with nine in finishing with eleven while hauling down nine rebounds to fall short of her second double-double effort. Regan added seven points but helped Barton to a twenty-one rebound edge by grabbing a career high seventeen rebounds, in addition to, dishing out a team high seven assists.

Rebecca Younis was the lone Beaver in double-digits with thirteen points while Channa Parvin led in rebounds with seven while adding eight points.

• Barton's win was the third straight in the series and fifth straight over the Beavers at the Barton Gym
• Barton now leads the overall series 71-8, including 37-2 record at home
• Barton knocked down eleven three-pointers, its second best effort since burying twelve against Butler
• Shooting 47.8% from beyond the arc (11-of-23), the Lady Cougars upped their conference leading percentage to 38.2%, five percentage points higher than Seward County
• Pratt blocked four shots against Barton matching the second most to Independence's five
• Defensively, Barton surrendered a second lowest output to the season (51), field goals made (19), field goal percentage (.297 on 19-of-64 shooting), and assists (7)
• Juliana Chagas' fifteen points was the third straight game double-figure game scoring a career high twenty-three against Hutchinson and sixteen against Cloud County. Chagas is also red-hot from beyond the arc, connecting 10-of-12 in the last five games
• After tying her career high rebound mark in the previous game versus Cloud County, Taylor Regan eclipsed the mark by five Saturday night and was one defensive board shy of a program top-3 effort
