Barton women dominant in second half to knock off Cloud County #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women launched a dominant second half effort Wednesday night at the Barton Gym to open the 2018 portion of the schedule with a 76-58 win over Cloud County Community College. Outscoring the T-birds by seventeen in the first ten minutes coming out of the locker room, the Lady Cougars shot a season high 56% for the contest in snapping a four game slide against Cloud County improving to 6-4 in conference play and 9-5 overall. Cloud County took just its third loss and second straight of the Jayhawk season falling to 7-3 and 10-3 on the year. Barton's next action will come Saturday in hosting Pratt Community College (0-10, 1-12) in a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.

Coming off a career high twenty-three points in Barton's last game at Hutchinson, Juliana Chagas again led the Lady Cougars in scoring with sixteen points as four others also reached double-digits. Burying both shots behind the arc, Chagas' 7-of-10 effort from the floor helped lead the team's season high percentage night. Taylor Regan finally captured an elusive double-double night as the Albert, Kansas, freshman tied a career high in hauling down twelve rebounds with 6-of-8 shooting to dump in thirteen points. Micaela Jellison also put up a career night, swatting away four Cloud County shots to go along with thirteen points and seven rebounds. Draining two of her four three-pointers in fourth quarter daggers, Mallory Miller dropped twelve while Fatou Seck Ndao scored eleven with nine rebounds in helping give Barton a ten point bench production edge.

Cloud County's Camille Awa Baud led all scorers on the night with nineteen points with Carrie Davis scoring all but two of her thirteen points in first half play. Mikaela Meyers rounded out the T-bird double-digit scoring coming off the bench to nearly record a double-double in scoring ten points and grabbing nine rebounds.

  • Barton made and attempted a season second low from the free throw line
  • Defensively, Barton surrendered a third lowest output to the season while also limiting a season low ten trips to the free throw line including 4-of-10 from the charity stripe
