Big start leads Lady Cougars to final tune-up cruising over Warriors #GoBarton

A 15-0 run in the first four minutes of Wednesday's game at the Barton Gym set the tone for the Barton Community College women's basketball team as the Lady Cougars cruised to an 83-48 victory over the junior varsity squad from Sterling College. Outscoring Sterling by thirteen in the opening quarter while tacking onto the margin in each of the next two quarters, the Lady Cougars continued to wear down the 0-3 Warriors with a twelve point fourth in Barton's final non-conference tune-up of the season. Next court action will come on Saturday in hosting Colby Community College in a 5:30 p.m. tip as both teams are off to identical 3-1 starts to the season.

Nine Lady Cougars reached the scoring column with Fatou Ndao's fourteen point and eleven rebound effort leading four in double digits to go along with five blocks. Juliana Chagas scored thirteen with four assists with Taylor Regan and Irene Chukwudi adding twelve points each. Reigning conference player of the week Jaylin Stapleton added nine but led the squad with five assists while Regan grabbed five of Barton's twenty assist.

Alexis Theus was the lone Warrior to reach double figures with ten as Dakota Boehler came up a point shy in nine points while Kortney Ricke added eight.
