Lady Cougars pounded on the glass in loss at Hutchinson #GoBartonDecember 09, 2017If the conference road isn’t rugged enough, giving a team too many second chances will compound the problems as the Barton Community College women found out Saturday night at the Sports Arena in a 72-53 loss at Hutchinson Community College. Despite holding the Blue Dragons to a season low 28% shooting from the field, Barton simply could not maintain the defensive glass in giving up twenty-eight offensive rebounds as Hutchinson also struck for its most three-pointers in a game to widen its margin each quarter for the nineteen point victory. The contest wrapped up the first portion of the season schedule as Barton goes to the holiday break seventh in the standings at 5-4 and 8-5 on the year while Hutchinson keeps pace with the leaders in a game back at 7-2 and 9-2 overall. Barton’s next action will come Wednesday, January 3, in hosting Cloud County Community College (7-2. 10-2) in a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.

Barton women build big lead in cruising to win over Dodge City #GoBartonDecember 06, 2017The Barton Community College women got off to a big start Wednesday night at the Barton Gym, extending an eleven point first quarter lead to a twenty halftime margin in cruising to a 75-52 victory over Dodge City Community College. The win improves Barton to 5-3 in Jayhawk play and 8-4 overall while sending the Lady Conquistadors to its fourth straight defeat in dropping to 2-6 in conference and 4-6 on the year. The Lady Cougars conclude the fall portion of the schedule on Saturday as Barton travels to Hutchinson Community College (6-2, 8-2) in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

Tough start leads to long night for Barton women at Independence #GoBartonDecember 02, 2017Getting outscored 19-2 early by a red-hot Lady Pirates squad, the Barton Community College women were left trailing in a long Saturday night on the road by taking an 83-52 loss at Independence Community College. The defeat drops Barton to 4-3 in Jayhawk play and 7-4 overall while the Lady Pirates stay unbeaten in conference play atop the standings at 7-0 and 8-1 on the year. The Lady Cougars have two games left on the fall portion of the schedule, the first coming Wednesday in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the Barton Gym hosting Dodge City Community College (2-5, 4-5).

Lady Cougars pull away for win over Allen County #GoBartonNovember 29, 2017It wasn’t pretty nor typical of the Barton Community College women Wednesday night at the Barton Gym but it was enough to pick up a victory as the Lady Cougars pulled away in the fourth quarter for an 81-67 win over Allen County Community College. Barton improves to 4-2 in Jayhawk play and 7-3 overall while the Red Devils drop to 1-5 and 3-7 on the year. The Lady Cougars take just their third road trip of the year on Saturday in traveling to conference unbeaten Independence Community College (6-0, 8-1) in a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.

Fortunes turn as Barton women fall at unbeaten Cowley #GoBartonNovember 25, 2017The bid for its third straight knock-off of one of the conference’s big dawgs came up short Saturday in Arkansas City as the Barton Community College women’s team had a season high turnover night in falling 65-56 to Cowley College. Barton’s end to its modest two-game win streak drops the Lady Cougars to 3-2 in Jayhawk play and 6-3 overall while Cowley remains unblemished on the season at 9-0 and tied atop the early standings at 5-0. The Lady Cougars return to the friendly confines of the Barton Gym on Wednesday in hosting Allen County Community College (1-4, 3-6) in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

Lady Cougars lead from wire-to-wire in knocking off No. 8 Seward County #GoBartonNovember 21, 2017Leading throughout Tuesday’s contest at the Barton Gym, the Barton Community College women’s team knocked off unbeaten No. 8 ranked Seward County Community College 89-80. The victory was the first against a top ten ranked opponent since February 4, 2012, ironically also coming against Seward County, as Barton won by five in Liberal to defeat the No. 6 ranked Lady Saints. Barton improves to 3-1 in Jayhawk play and 6-2 on the year as Seward County drops to 3-1 and 5-1 overall. The Lady Cougars will take on its second unblemished opponent on Saturday as Barton travels to Cowley College (4-0, 8-0) for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the William S. Scott Gym in Arkansas City, Kansas.

Barton improved to 2-1 in Jayhawk play and 5-2 on the year as Butler falls to 1-2 and 4-2 overall. The Lady Cougars will be back on the court on Tuesday as the unblemished and No. 8 Lady Saints of the Seward County Community College (3-0, 5-0) come to the Barton Gym for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.

Barton women drop first road contest on cold night in Garden City #GoBartonNovember 15, 2017It was a chilly Wednesday night on the hardwood for the Barton Community College women’s team as the Lady Cougars suffered a dismal shooting night in a 71-51 defeat at Garden City Community College. Shooting just 27% from the field and 56% from the stripe, the Lady Cougars also gave the Broncbusters eighteen extra opportunities in turnovers leading to the loss in Barton’s first road game of the season. Garden City improves to 3-2 on the season in dropping Barton to 4-2 as both teams have split their first two games of the conference season. The Lady Cougars’ next test will come this Saturday as Butler Community College comes to the hill for a 5:30 p.m. tip at the Barton Gym.
