Barton women wrap up regular season with twenty-one point win over Neosho County; Jellison posts career high double-double

The Barton Community College women's basketball team closed out the 2017 regular season Monday night with a 91-70 victory over Neosho County Community College.  The Lady Cougars jumped out to a 14-2 and never looked back increasing the lead out to sixteen after the first ten minutes to cruise to the victory.  Ending the Panthers regular season at 10-20 and 7-19 in conference play, Barton concludes the regular season at 16-14 while its 13-13 conference mark to finish the Jayhawk grind earned the Lady Cougars another game on the L.T. and Sheila Fleske Court in hosting a first round Region VI playoff game on Thursday.    In a 5:30 p.m. tip-off with free admission and $1 hot dogs, the Lady Cougars will host the 28-1 Lady Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Technical College for the right to advance to Monday's 3:00 p.m. quarterfinal round at Park City's Hartman Arena.

Having a monster night coming off the bench, Micaela Jellison not only led all scorers in the game but posted career high totals in points and rebounds to record the Protection, Kansas, freshman's third double-double of the year.  Three other Lady Cougars reached double-figures as Baylee Robinson dropped nineteen including her first three-pointer of the season being followed by Katrina Roenfeldt's third triple of the game putting Barton out from by twelve just 3:27 into the contest as Roenfeldt would drain another long ball to finish with fifteen points.  Hometown product Regan Unruh also had a solid night finishing with eighteen points on 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, as well as, joining Robinson in each going a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.   Jalisa Jones just missed double figures with nine but dished out a team high six assists.

Three Panthers had a double digits scoring night with Bianca Valderrama's 8-of-10 from the free throw line contributing to her team high eighteen points along with the team leading eight rebounds.  Brooke Neal finished with fourteen points in leading Neosho County with three dimes with five steals while Ki'Asha Harris finished with twelve.
