Lady Cougars heat up in second half for victory over Colby

Trailinng by one at halftime, the Barton Community College women's basketball team took over the final twenty minutes of play Wednesday night at the Barton Gym earning a 59-42 win over Colby Community College.  The Lady Cougars shot just 26% percent in first half action leading to the deficit but heated up in second half play to 44% while limiting the Trojans to just seven points in each of the third and fourth quarters in pulling away for the win.  Barton gets back to .500 in conference play with the victory improving to 7-7 and 10-8 on the season while sending Colby to their ninth straight loss dropping to 1-12 in the Jayhawk and 3-14 overall.   The Lady Cougars will next head to Garden City on Sunday for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off against the Broncbusters.

Katrina Roenfeldt led all scorers with thirteen points while flirting with a triple-double pulling down eight rebounds and finishing with eight steals.  Megan Jirak added eleven with Baylee Robinson scoring ten to go along with seven rebounds.  Micaela Jellison came off the bench to help give Barton a fourteen rebound edge grabbing six of her game high ten on the offensive glass and scoring eight points.  Lauren Welsch also gave the Lady Cougars a spark off the bench scoring seven points and snaring seven rebounds.

Dezyree Morales was the lone Trojan to reach double figures with eleven with AubreAnna Johnson and Tia Jones were close behind with nine points each.
