Final five minutes sends Lady Cougars to loss hosting Coffeyville

The Barton Community College women's basketball team led through three quarters of play Wednesday night at the Barton Gym before a pivotal two minute stretch late in the contest flipped the tide as Coffeyville Community College ran away with a 60-50 victory.  The loss drops the Lady Cougars to 5-7 in conference play and 8-8 on the season while the Red Ravens improve to 9-3 and 10-5 overall.   Barton will next make the long trip to Chanute on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tip at Neosho County Community College.

Barton held the four point lead headed to the final frame by increasing their one point halftime edge in part to a running long tow-pointer by Jalisa Jones at the third quarter buzzer.  Barton kept the Red Ravens at bay for the first five minutes of the fourth before a pivotal 7-0 run put Coffeyville on top for good with 3:08 remaining.   Katrina Roenfeldt's jumper temporarily halted the run before the Ravens scored the six expanding the lead to eight with just fifty-seven ticks on the clock.  Lauren Welsch cut the deficit to six on Barton's next possession but Coffeyville salted the game away at the charity stripe sinking 6-of-6 for the ten point win.

Roenfeldt knocked down four three-pointers in leading Barton in scoring with sixteen while Baylee Robinson was the only other Lady Cougar in double figures scoring ten points and hauling down seven rebounds in leading Barton's 32-28 edge on the glass.  Alexus Bryson distributed a team high four assist with Roenfeldt leading with five thefts.

Alanie Fisher was the lone Red Raven in double figures but scored a game high twenty-five points including a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line while also leading the team with four steals.  Lucy Burke and Alexis Wooden tied for team high rebound honors with five each.
