Three double-double performances powers Barton women to road victory at Pratt

The Barton Community College women's basketball team put an end to a couple of streaks Saturday afternoon the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena with a 77-52 victory at Pratt Community College.  Getting double-double performances from three players, the Lady Cougars utilized their outside scoring threat in first half action to lead by six but turned to the inside game in the final twenty minutes for an eighteen point differential in notching Barton's first win in Pratt since the 2012 season.  The victory also put an end to Barton's three game losing streak improving the Lady Cougars to 5-6 in conference play and 8-7 on the season while sending Pratt to their third straight defeat dropping to 2-9 in the Jayhawk and 3-12 overall.   After two road trips to begin the 2017 portion of the schedule, the Lady Cougars' next game will be in the friendly confines of the Barton Gym with a Wednesday 5:30 p.m. tip-off against Coffeyville Community College.

Leading five Lady Cougars in double figures, Katrina Roenfeldt got untracked from long distance canning four three pointers in first half action on the way to an eighteen point night.  Going on a personal 8-0 late first quarter run, Roenfeldt began with a jumper before burying consecutive long balls including a buzzer beater giving Barton a 16-8 lead.   Missing just one long range shot, Roenfeldt teamed with Regan Unruh for consecutive treys giving Barton their largest first half lead of sixteen at 26-10 before knocking down her fourth trey matching the margin mid-way through the quarter.   Roenfeldt's eleven rebounds recorded the sophomore's third double-double of the season and second consecutive game of double figure rebounds.

Megan Jirak finished a point shy of Roenfeldt with seventeen points getting ten of those in first half action as the Marion sophomore posted her fourth double-double of the season collecting ten of her career high nineteen rebounds in the first twenty minutes.   The unofficial nineteen rebound performance stands just outside the historical top five performances in Barton women's history.

Joining Roenfeldt and Jirak with a stat stuffing night, Baylee Robinson scored all of her sixteen points in second half action while hauling down a career high fourteen boards to record her team leading sixteenth double-double of the year.  The trio's rebound performances help lead Barton to a massive 62-29 rebound margin while allowing just two Pratt second chance points.  Robinson was a key component of Barton's inside dominance especially early in second have action answering Pratt cutting Barton's six-point halftime lead to four with a personal six point run in widening the lead back out.

Regan Unruh and Micaela Jellison each added ten points with each contributing in their own way on either side of the halftime break.  Combining with Roenfeldt for twenty-two of Barton's thirty-five first half points, Unruh buried her first trey getting Barton off to ta 5-0 start before her consecutive trey with Roenfeldt built Barton's largest lead of the first half.  With the Lady Cougars turning their focus from the outside game to the inside attack in second half play, Jellison joined Jirak and Robinson owning the paint including starting an 11-0 run beginning the fourth quarter with five straight points to help put the game away.

Jada Catlin was the lone Pratt player to reach double figures scoring fifteen points in first half play to finish the contest with twenty-four while leading the team with seven rebounds.
