Same song different dance, Barton women fall short of upsetting NOC-Enid

Meeting on the Saturday night of the Best Western and Cougar Booster Club Classic for the second straight year, the upset bid from the Barton Community College women's basketball team once again fell short against the nationally receiving votes Jets of Northern Oklahoma College-Enid as the Lady Cougars fell 63-55.  Cutting a halftime nine point deficit to one early in the fourth quarter, Barton succumbed to a Jets' 7-0 run answer while foul problems mounted in never getting back any closer to within five the rest of the way being handed their first loss of the season.   NOC-Enid leaves the Barton Gym with two wins in the Classic improving to 3-0 on the early season while the Lady Cougars' weekend split leaves them at 2-1.  Barton's next action will come on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. hosting the junior varsity squad from Sterling College.  

Katrina Roenfeldt led three Lady Cougars in double-digit scoring with twelve with Megan Jirak and Regan Unruh each contributed twelve.  Baylee Robinson, who led Barton to its upset over No. 25 Iowa Western Community College the night before with a monster night, just missed her second consecutive double-double finishing with nine points and eight rebounds.

Sarah Garvie led a balanced Jets attack with fourteen points while Carley Frymire contributed ten off the bench.

In the early classic game, the No. 25 Lady Reivers took out their Friday frustration on the junior varsity squad from Washburn University 84-45.  Scoring at least twenty points in each quarter, Iowa Western shot over 62% including knocking down 11-of-20 three pointers to leave Great Bend at 1-1 on the season while keeping Washburn winless at 0-3.   Meghan Luper came off the bench to pour in a team high seventeen points in part to 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.  Miya Bull also came off the bench adding twelve while Melis Ucar contributed ten.   

Hayley Thompson led the Ichabods with fourteen with Sydney Paialii scoring thirteen off the bench.
