Two Lady Cougars earn All-Tournament award

Two Barton Community College women's basketball players were recently named to the Region VI All-Tournament Team.  Mariana Lambert, a KJCCC West Division Honorable Mention selection, was joined by Phikala Anthony on the eleven member team announced at the conclusion of the Region VI Tournament held at Wichita State University's Koch Arena.  The Lady Cougars' season came to an end last Friday coming up on the short end of 57-45 loss to No. 6 ranked Butler Community College in the semifinal round of the Region VI Tournament held at Wichita's Koch Arena.  Having already pulled two upsets in the tournament, the Lady Cougars went scoreless the first seven minutes of the contest to dig a 12-0 deficit and were never able draw any closer than six the rest of the way.  The loss ended Barton's season at 20-13.

Lambert, who hovered around the ten point mark per game throughout the season, averaged sixteen points in region play including knocking down 52.9% of her shots behind the arc (9-17) and going 11-13 from the free throw line (84.6%).  The athletic Anthony also stepped up in her point production averaging two higher than her seven points per game average to score twenty-eight points in the tournament while going 6-7 from the charity stripe.

The duo added to the accomplishments of two other Lady Cougars to earn post season awards.  Cheyenne Hedrington led the Barton selections with a KJCCC West Division All-Conference second team honor while Ashton Bruner landed on the honorable mention team.
