Barton wins 3rd straight West road tilt
The Barton Community College women's basketball team made it 3 in row on the road to start the Jayhawk West season, giving the Cougars 9 straight West road wins. Barton's latest victory away from home came at Colby Wednesday night as the Cougars rolled to a 71-51 win over the Trojans at the Community Building. The win improved Barton to 3-4 in the West and 10-10 overall. Colby fell to 2-20 and 0-8 with the loss. Barton will look for its 1st home win in the West this year when Pratt comes to the Barton Gym for a 6 pm tip.

Highlights
Barton jumped out to an early lead on the Trojans, turning an 8-6 lead into a 32-10 advantage with 9 minutes to play in the opening half. Barton took a 41-25 lead to halftime. The Cougars hit just less than 50 percent from the floor in the half, shooting 15-for-31 from the field. The Cougars were a sizzling 6-of-11 on 3-pointers in their highest point total for a half since an identical 41 against KCK in the 2nd half of their Shoot Out contest. It was just the 3rd time since the 4th game of the year the Cougars topped the 40-point mark in a half.

A slow start to the 2nd half by Barton saw Colby trim the lead to 43-29 but Barton shot right back out to a 20-point lead at 54-34 and weren't challenged after that. Barton's biggest lead of the game was at 26 with 4 minutes to play.

Annie Kassongo scored 18 and grabbed 12 rebounds for her 11th double-double this season and 3rd in the past 4 games. She also had 4 assists and 7 blocks. Raven Ward added 11 while Alisha Fanshier scored 10. Hannah Rotolo handed out 5 assists to just 1 turnover from the point guard spot. Tynisha McDowell added 5 assists as well. Danisha Cole scored 18 for the Trojans to go with team highs of 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks.

The Cougars and Pratt will wrap up the time through the West for both schools in a game of teams battling for 5th in the West. Barton and Butler are each 3-4 in the West while Pratt is 2-5.
