Barton comes up short in upset bid at Cloud; lose at Seward
The Barton Community College women's basketball team put together its best offensive game since the very early stages of the season with an 82-47 win over Dodge City Saturday night at the Barton Gym. The Cougars scored their 3rd highest point total of the year and shot their best percentage from the field of the season in the Jayhawk West win. The Cougars are now 5-6 in the West and 12-12 overall while Dodge City falls to 1-10 in West play and 3-22 overall. Barton will travel to Garden City Wednesday night for a 5:30 pm tip at the Perryman Center.

Highlights
Dodge, playing without its leading scorer and rebounder Robin Parker due to an injury, kept things close for a while but a big Barton run midway through the opening half put the game out of reach. The contest was tied at 14-all with 13 minutes to go when the Cougars went on a 17-2 run to take a 31-16 lead with 5 minutes to play. Dodge briefly cut the lead to 10 but couldn't not get into single digits as Barton took a 39-23 lead to half.

The Cougars immediately pushed that lead to 24 points with a 9-1 run to start the 2nd half. The Cougars continued to pull away maxing at a lead of 40 points with 5 minutes to play in the game. Annie Kassongo and Alisha Fanshier each scored 19 to lead Barton while Raven Ward added 17. Kassongo recorded yet another double-double with 15 rebounds. Hannah Rotolo led Barton with 8 assists.

For Kassongo it was her 15th double-double in Barton's 24 games and the 5th in a row. The 6-2 sophomore from Switzerland has reached a double-double in 8 of Barton's 11 West games. She has scored in double figures in all but one game this year. Marcella Sedoc led Dodge with 15.

For the Cougars to keep alive their slim chances of host a 1st round Region VI playoff game, a win at Garden Wednesday night is a must. The Broncbusters are currently 7-3 in the West, sitting in 4th place 3 games ahead of Barton in the loss column with just 5 games remaining for the Cougars. Butler is currently 4-6 in the West 1/2 game behind Barton. The Grizzlies will visit the Barton Gym Saturday.
