Cougar women run winning streak to 6; face Cloud, Seward next
The Barton Community College women's basketball team won its 6th straight Jayhawk West contest with a tougher than expected road win at Pratt. The Cougars prevailed with a 63-46 win at the Lesh Sports Arena but had to work for it. Barton is now 6-2 in the West after falling on the road at Cloud and Seward to start the West season. The Cougars are 16-6 overall. Pratt falls to 1-7 and 8-14. Barton will get a chance to seek some revenge on Cloud and Seward as the two teams visit the Barton Gym Monday and Wednesday. Both games will tip at 6 pm.

Highlights
Barton trailed only once in the game at 6-5 but the Cougars could never comfortably put the Beavers away. Barton was able to lead by double digits in the opening half and led 28-18 by half. The Cougars held Pratt to just 7-of-25 shooting in the opening half.

Barton took control in the 2nd half building a commanding 54-27 lead 8 minutes. Pratt was able to cut the lead under 20, trimming it to as low as 15 late in the game but the Cougars were never threatened during the final 20 minutes.

Kristine Silaraja led Barton with 14 points – 10 of those in the opening half. Brooke Conley and Samira Harper each added 11 for the Cougars. Pratt was led by Jazmyne Bell with 13. Barton forced Pratt into 29 turnovers and limited the Beavers to just 33 percent shooting for the contest.

Barton will now turn focus to the Cloud-Seward back-to-back games that got them the 1st time through the West. Barton lost 93-75 to Cloud in Concordia to start West play then fell 82-75 to Seward in Liberal. Since that time Barton has not lost a game and is just 1 game behind both teams in the standings. A sweep by the Cougars would put them in a tie for 1st in the West.
