Sturdivant earns 3rd team All-American
Barton County Community College point guard Courtney Sturdivant has been named 3rd Team All-American by the NJCAA for her play last season in helping the Barton women's basketball to the NJCAA National Tournament. Sturdivant helped the Cougars to a 4th place finish at the National Tournament after capturing the Region VI and Jayhawk West titles.

Sturdivant led a balanced Cougars scoring attack this season, averaging 14.4 points per contest. She was also the leader in assists at 4.5 per game and finished 3rd in steals at 1.8 an outing. Sturdivant shot 47 percent from the floor and led Barton in minutes at nearly 31 per contest.

The Cougars finished the season with a 34-4 mark, tied for the best all-time at Barton. Barton had a 16-game winning streak to start the season and an 18-game winning streak before losing its final 2 games of the year at the NJCAA Tournament. The 18-game streak is the 4th longest all-time in a single season. The previous season Barton won its final 12 games along with the 1st 16 this season gave the Cougars a 28-game winning streak over two seasons – just shy of the all-time record at Barton of 32 games.

Barton played against several players that were honored as All-Americans, including 4 on the 1st team – Labette's Dana Olsen, Southeastern Illinois' Armelie Lumanu, Central Arizona's Tenaya Watson, and Arkansas-Fort Smith's Tanisha Smith. Barton also played against 4 members of the 2nd team, 1 from the 3rd team and 4 more that were tabbed honorable mention.
