Barton makes it 11 in a row with win 98-62 road win at Dodge City
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team made it 11 in a row, winning its 1st West road game of the season. Barton captured a 98-62 win at Dodge City Saturday night in the Civic Center to kept its West mark perfect in the early stages of the conference slate. Barton moved to 2-0 in the West and 14-2 overall this season with the win. Dodge fell to 6-10 overall and 0-2 in the West. The Cougars will get the winning streak tested in the upcoming week as Barton host No. 1 Cloud County Wednesday and No. 7 Seward County Saturday in the Barton County Gym.

Highlights
For the 2nd straight game, Barton bolted out of the gates to an early lead and never trailed in the contest. This time it wasn't the 31-0 lead like the Cougars mounted against Pratt, but a 12-0 lead and Barton never led by less than double digits the rest of the way.

Barton pushed it lead to 20 points in the latter stages of the opening half and led by as many as 25 points in the 1st half before settling for a 50-27 lead at intermission. In the opening half, Barton hit 55 percent from the floor and out rebounded Dodge 22-10. The Cougars scored 20 points off 13 Dodge turnovers. The Cougars' lead hovered in the 20 most of the 2nd half before Barton pulled away for the 26-point win.

Barton was led by freshman LaToya Jackson for the 4th time in the past 5 games, as she netted 19 points. Jackson hit 5-of-8 treys and added 7 assists in the win. She was followed closely by freshman DePrice Taylor with 18. Inga Muciniece recorded her 4th double double in the past 5 games, scoring 17  points and collecting a game-high 15 rebounds. Andrea Barber also scored 17 for the Cougars and led Barton with 9 assists. Ipek Turkylimaz made it 5 Cougars in double figures with 10 points. Dodge was paced by St. John freshman Keri Rausch with 14 points while Patrice McKenzie added 13 point and 14 rebounds.

Barton now turns focus to one of the biggest weeks of the year for the Cougars. With no possibility of post season due to a department-wide probation on the Barton athletic department with the exception of men's basketball, which has already served 2 years probation, this upcoming week is huge for the Cougar women's basketball team. Barton will start the week hosting the No. 1 ranked team in the country when Jayhawk West favorite Cloud County comes to the Barton Gym. The Cougars will then host No. 7 Seward County Saturday. Barton's only 2 losses this year have come to Top 10 teams South Plains (Texas) and Western Nebraska, which have a combined 27-0 record.
