Three players from the Barton County Community College women's basketball team signed a letter of intent on the opening day of the early signing period today to play next season at NCAA Division I schools. Last season Southern Miss was 14-15 overall with a 10-6 mark in Conference USA, winning 9 of its last 13 regular season games.

As a freshman last season, Barber was named to the All-Region VI Tournament team following an outstanding post season effort for the Cougars that helped them get to the Region VI finals. She averaged 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists last season a freshman for the 28-6 Cougars. She holds career highs of 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists. Through 2 games this season, Barber is averaging 13 points, 5.5 assists and 3 rebounds and has just 1 turnover.

Inga Muciniece – Syracuse
Muciniece will be playing in the Big East next season as a member of the Syracuse Orange. Mucinience, a 6-5 post player from Latvia, a red shirted last season for the Cougars, is just a freshman this season so she will have 3 years at Syracuse.

In her 2 games this season for the Cougars, Muciniece is averaging 9 points and 10.5 rebounds a contest. In her final season of high school basketball in Ventsplis, Latvia, Muciniece scored 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds per contest.

ChrisDell Harris – Western Illinois
Harris, a sophomore from Wichita, will participate in two sports at Western Illinois, running track as well as playing basketball for the Westwinds. In addition to playing basketball at Barton, Harris was an All-American last season in the 100m dash and won gold at the NJCAA Championships on the Barton 4x100m relay team. Last season Western Illinois went 23-7 overall and won the Mid Continent Conference title with a record of 13-3.

Harris played in 31 games for the Cougars last season, coming off the bench to average 3 points and 3 rebounds in 7 minutes per game. This season in just 2 games, Harris is averaging 10.5 points and 6 rebounds a contest.

Her senior season at Wichita West, Harris averaged 27 points and 10 rebounds per contest. She was also a 3-time state champion in track and field for West High School. Her twin brother Odell is also a track star, signing a letter of intent to run for the University of Houston on Wednesday as well.
