Ewalefo, Uli earn All-Conference honors for Cougar women
A pair of Barton County Community College women's basketball players earned All-Jayhawk West honors for their performance this year in helping revive the Barton County women's hoops program. Sophomore Vivian Ewalefo and freshman Sunshine Uli were named to the team with Ewalefo grabbing 2nd team honors and Uli earning honorable mention status. The two 1st-year players help the Cougars go from 8th in the West to 4th in the West and advance to the Region VI Championship game for the 1st since 2000. Ewalefo also earned honorable mention All-Region VI.



Vivian Ewalefo
Ewalefo led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding nearly the entire season and ended with an 11.4 scoring mark and a 7.2 rebounding mark – both tops for Barton. The sophomore from Las Vegas posted a season-high of 25 at Coffeyville this year and grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds against Pratt. On 9 occasions the 6-0 forward collected a double-double. She also averaged nearly 2 assists per contest.

She was joined in the 2nd team by Suzana Sormaz and Jayci Stone from Colby, Tina Wilson of Pratt and Ashley Ford of Cloud. The 1st team was made up of Rita Kollo of Colby, Seward's Whitney Pegram and Amanda Foster, Dodge City's Taleesha Hardy and Lisa Carroll, along with Lauren Williams of Pratt. Kollo was picked as the Player-of-the-Year and Freshman-of-the-Year in the West. Seward's Jim Littell was voted Coach-of-the-Year.

Sunshine Uli
Uli finished the season as the top scoring threat for the Cougars over the final 14 games of the season, averaging 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds. For the season Uli averaged 8.8 points and 6.1 rebounds. She posted a season-high 20 points in a home win over Butler late in the regular season grabbed 15 rebounds in the regular season finale at West champion Seward. The freshman from Hawaii had 4 double-doubles during the year.

She was joined on the honorable mention list by Butler's Asia Alston, Hutchinson's Wendy Fehrenbach and Daiana Canaver, and Garden's Ebony Allen. Uli was 1 of just 4 freshman – Kollo, Sormaz and Allen – to earn honors of any kind in the West.
