Cougars make it two straight with win OT over Hutch
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team continued its quest for the top half of the Jayhawk Conference with a 62-57 overtime win over Hutchinson at the Barton County Gym Wednesday night. The win was the 2nd straight for the Cougars who now stand at 2-4 in the West, alone in 6th place. Barton is 12-8 overall this season. Hutch fell to 1-5 and 12-7.

Highlights
Hutchinson led the contest from the opening tip, leading by as many as 9 points during the 1st half of action. But the Cougars finished the half with a 9-2 run to even the mark at 24-all at halftime for the 1st tie of the contest.

Barton took its 1st lead of the game to start the 2nd half on an Akia Harmon field goal at 26-24, but it was short-lived. The Blue Dragons retook the lead and held it until there was less than 3 minutes to play, leading by as many as 6 points. The Cougars evened the mark at 46-all on the 1st of 2 Rebecca Chapman free throws and took a 47-46 lead with the 2nd. The two clubs traded the lead until a Hutch evened the score at 50-all with 12 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

In the overtime, Barton took control from the start. The Cougars scored the first 6 points of the overtime to grab a 56-50 lead. Chapman started it with a jumper on an assist from Tarryn Montgomery. Montgomery and Chapman followed with buckets to give Barton a 56-50 lead with 2 minutes to play. The Blue Dragons would not get closer than 3 points the remainder of the way as Barton finished up back-to-back wins in the West.

Chapman came off the bench to lead all Barton scorers with a career-high 14 points, followed by Carly Bloomfield with 13 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Harmon also found double digits with 12. Hutch was paced by Natalie Purcell with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
