Barton women lose at No. 20 Dodge City
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team saw its 2-game winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon at the Civic Center in Dodge City, falling to the No. 20 Conquistadors by a 77-49 score. The loss dropped the Cougars to 2-5 in the Jayhawk West and 12-9 overall this season. Dodge City is just one game out of the top spot in the West after the win with a 5-2 West mark and a 19-2 overall record.

Highlights
As has been the case in several West contests the Cougars fell short in this year, Barton was in the game at the half. Barton trailed just 30-20 at half despite an 18-turnover half the Cougars against the quick Dodge City defense. Barton had the led down to 28-20 and had the ball for one last shot in the half before its 18th turnover allowed Dodge City to score at the buzzer for the 10-point lead.

The Cougars took the lead back to 8 at 30-22 when Carly Bloomfield hit a basket to start the 2nd half but the Conquistadors took it from there. An 11-2 run by Dodge gave them a 41-24 with still more than 17 minutes to play in the game. The Cougars would get no closer than 17 the rest of the way.

Bloomfield led Barton with 20 points as the freshman just missed her career-high by a single point. She was joined in double digits by Natalie Arndt with 10. Akia Harmon and Tarryn Montgomery led Barton with 7 rebounds while Arndt handed out 4 assists to pace the Cougars. Elena Diaz led four Dodge players in double figures with 18 points.
