Barton snares a pair of easy wins at Pepsi Classic
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team had a pair of easy wins at the Pepsi Classic this past weekend at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars rolled by Southeast Community College (Neb.) Friday night by a 102-43 score then came back Saturday to defeat the McPherson JV 77-36. The wins moved Barton County to 7-2 for the season. The Cougars have a 10-day break following the wins and will return to action Dec. 2 in a home tilt.

Highlights
Barton jumped out of the gates Friday by hitting 67 percent from the floor in the opening half as the Cougars built a 60-26 lead over Southeast by intermission. Just one player saw more than 28 minutes of court time as Barton cruised to the easy win. The Cougars were paced by freshmen Carly Bloomfield and Tarryn Montgomery with 17 points each. Freshman Chelsia James added 14 points and 10 rebounds while Natalie Arndt and Akia Harmon finished with 13 and 11. Arndt added 7 assists.

Saturday the Cougars were a bit sluggish offensively out of the gates but ended the first half with another impressive 51 percent effort from the floor in building 43-21 halftime lead. Bloomfield scored 20 to pace the Cougars while freshman Rebecca Chapman added 14 points and 9 rebounds.
