Love signs to play for former coach at Barton County

Sharece Love was among the 5 signees released by the Barton County Community College women's basketball team today and 1st year coach Lane Lord. She is a familiar face to Coach Lord, having played for him for four years at Wichita Heights High School. While at Heights, Love and her teammates complied an 89-8 record over four years with 2 Class 6A titles to the Falcons credit.

Love is one of 2 Heights players released by the school as following Coach Lord to the Cougars. Brittany Ridley will join her. While at Heights her senior season, Love was a 1st Team All City League selection and an Honorable Mention All-State selection for the Falcons. She scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds per contests for the Falcons, who were ranked No. 1 in 6A for most of the season before being upset in the Sub State finals. That was the 1st time Love had missed the State Tournament in her career at Heights, which saw the Falcons win a State Title her sophomore and junior season and take 3rd her freshman season.

Love was a very shooter for the Falcons, hitting 51 percent from the floor and 71 percent from the free throw line. In addition, she knocked down 36 percent of her 3-pointers her senior season. Wichita Heights won or shared the City League title all fours years Love played for the Falcons. Perhaps Love's biggest attribute she brought Heights was her defensive play. She was tabbed as the team's Defensive Player of the Year both her junior and senior seasons. She was the team captain her senior season.

Coach Lane Lord comments
Sharece is a versatile player who can play the 2-5 positions. Defensively, Sharece can guard any position on the floor. Offensively, Sharece can shoot the 3 or post inside. Look for Sharece to be an impact player for Barton.
