Barton women fall to No. 8 Colby
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team lost to another ranked foe Saturday night, falling to No. 8 Colby, 62-41, at the Barton County Gym. The loss drops the Cougars to 3-9 in the Jayhawk West and 13-13 overall. Colby, currently 2nd in the West, improves to 11-2 and 24-3. The Cougars will have a showdown with Hutchinson Wednesday night in a contest that could determine 7th place in the West for the upcoming playoffs, giving the winner the inside track on avoiding the top seed from the East.

Highlights
The Cougars stayed with the Trojans early in the contest, trailing just 11-10 with 14 minutes to play before the Trojans found their shot. Colby went on a 22-8 run to end the half and take a 33-18 lead into halftime.

The Cougars made an early run in the 2nd half, cutting the lead to 36-26 with 14 minutes to play. But a quick 9-0 run by the Trojans pushed the lead back to 45-26 with 10 minutes to play. The Cougars never got closer than 14 the rest of the way.

Barton was led by Saara Pelttari with 11 points, followed by Carly Bloomfield with 10. Briana Harris grabbed 12 rebound and Natalie Arndt with 10. Colby put 3 players in double figures led by Louise McLean with 17. Jelean Spiric and Bojana Smardziska added 14.
