Cougar miss chance to lock up No. 7 seed
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team just missed putting together back-to-back wins and securing the No. 7 in the West, falling to Butler County in double overtime, 85-80, Saturday night at the Barton County Gym.

The loss drops Barton County to 11-17 overall and 4-10 in the Jayhawk West. Butler is now 13-15 overall and 4-10 in the West.

Highlights
The Cougars came back to tie the contest in regulation thanks to a Heather Nittler trey late in the game and even had a chance to win the contest but a last second shot came off short, sending the game to overtime tied at 63-all. In the first overtime, both teams had trouble scoring and the game went to a 2nd OT at 70-all.

In the second overtime, Butler jumped out to an early big cushion, getting the lead as high as 7 point before rallied one more time, but this time a could not catch the Grizzlies.

Heather Nittler tied a career-high with 19 points, knocking down 5 treys in the process. Briana Harris scored a career-high 18 as well for the Cougars in the loss. Harris also had 8 boards and Michelle Deighton had 6 assists for the Cougars.

Butler was led by Benita Buggs with 24 points and 13 rebounds and Ashley Roberts with 23.

The Cougars attempt to make it 3 in a row, but it won't be easy when No. 25 Cloud County visits Barton County Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in the final home game of the season for the Cougars. Barton will end its regular season on the road Saturday at Dodge City. The first round playoff game will be March 4 at either Coffeyville or Cowley County.
