Barton women lose at No. 6 Cowley County
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team faced a tough challenge Wednesday night, traveling to the No. 6 team in the country and playing on their home court. The Cougars gave Cowley a battle, but fell to the Tigers, 73-54.

Barton County is now 4-4 on the season.

Highlights
Barton fell behind early in the game, 12-2, but did manage to cut the margin to four points. Cowley put together a 19-7 run to push the lead to 31-15 and Barton. The Cougars trailed 33-19 at halftime.

In the second half, the Cougars clawed away at the lead, getting into single digits on an Erica Blair layup at the 16-minute mark, cutting the lead to 37-28. Another bucket by Michelle Deighton with 14:30 to play cut the Cowley lead to 37-30.

That would be as close as the Cougars would get in the game. Barton put together a 6-0 run later in the game to make it a 56-48 contest with 6:52 to play.

The Cougars were led by Akia Harmon with 18 points and eight rebounds. Harman hit 7-of-10 shots from the floor. Erica Blair joined her in double figures with 11. Cowley's Aubrie Hallman scored 21 to lead four players in double figures.

Barton will be at home again this weekend for a pair of games at the Pizza Hut Classic. The Cougars will take on the Sterling JV Friday at 8 p.m., then tangle with the Northwest Oklahoma JV Saturday at 4 p.m.
