Cougar beaten by No. 14 Cloud County
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team lost its final home game of the season, falling to No. 14 ranked Cloud County, 75-50 on sophomore night at the Wednesday at the Barton County Gym.

The loss drops Barton County to 11-18 overall and 4-11 in the Jayhawk West. Cloud concludes it regular season with an 11-5 West record and a 25-5 overall mark.

Highlights
The Cougars jumped out to a 9-4 lead early in the contest, but Cloud County responded with a 30-6 run to take a 36-15 lead. The Thunderbirds led the rest of the way. Cloud County shot 55 percent in the opening half to build a 39-21 halftime lead.

Barton County was led by sophomore Michelle Deighton, playing her final game at home, with 15 points. Akia Harmon added 10 for the Cougars and 8 rebounds to lead the way. Cloud was led by Amber Hein with 15 and Amanda Bulin with 14.

The Cougars will end their regular season on the road Saturday at Dodge City in a 6 p.m. tip. The first round Region VI playoff game will be Tuesday at either Coffeyville or Cowley County.
