Barton women keep streak alive
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team kept its winning streak over Pratt in tact, defeating the Beavers by a 60-49 score at the Barton County Gym.



The win was the 43rd in a row for the Cougars over the Beavers. Barton is now 25-0 lifetime against Pratt at home and 49-1 overall. Barton is now 8-8 overall on the season and 1-1 in the Jayhawk. Pratt is 9-6 and 0-1.

Highlights
The Cougars, hitting just 30 percent from the floor as a team this season, found their shooting stroke in the first half Wednesday, hitting 14-of-30 shots for 47 percent. The Cougars finished the game at 39 percent.

Barton led the entire basketball game, holding off the Beavers late in the contest. Pratt trimmed the lead to five points on a couple of occasions late in the game, but Barton made the shots down the stretch to win.

Heather Nittler led Barton County, tying a career-high effort with 19 points. Ashley Bode also turned in a career-high as the freshman scored 10 off the Cougar bench. Erica Blair also added 10 points of the Barton bench. The Beavers were led by Becky Gibson with 20 points on 8-of-30 shooting.

The Cougars will be on the road to tangle with No. 16 ranked Garden City Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. Barton is back home Monday to face Colby in another West contest.
