Barton drops season finale at Dodge City
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team dropped its season finale at Dodge City Saturday, falling to the Conquistadors by an 81-55 score.

The loss drops Barton County to 11-19 overall and 4-12 in the Jayhawk West. Barton will start Region VI playoff action Wednesday at Cowley County. The tip is set for 6 p.m. Dodge City ends its season with an 8-8 West record and a 21-9 overall mark.

Highlights
Barton stuck with Dodge for the first 10 minutes of the game, but a late run in the first half by the Conquistadors allowed them to open up a 43-26 lead on Barton. The Cougars were able to trim that lead to 10 points in the second half before another Dodge run put the game out of reach.

Barton was led by Ariel James with a career-high 11 points. Heather Nittler and Akia Harmon each added 10 points. Harmon also grabbed 6 boards along with Natalie Arndt to lead Barton. Dodge City was led by Ronnie Maglaughlin with 18 points. Shakria Shorey added 11 points and 15 rebounds.

The Cougars finish with the No. 8 seed in the West and have to travel to East Champion Cowley County to start Region VI playoff action. That contest will take place Wednesday in Arkansas City, starting at 6 p.m. If the Cougars win they will play Saturday at 8 p.m. against the winner of the Colby/Labette game.
