Barton women continue to play well at home
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team continued its good play at home, knocking off Hutchinson Wednesday night at the Barton County Gym, 59-48, behind some of the Cougars best shooting of the season.

The win improves Barton County to 11-16 overall and 4-9 in the Jayhawk West. Hutchinson is now 18-9 overall and 7-6 in the West.

Highlights
Barton jumped out to an early lead, then saw Hutchinson run off 10 straight while the Cougars struggled from the field to fall behind 16-13. But Barton closed the gap at halftime to just 21-20.

In the second half, the Cougars played one of their best halves of the season, hitting 64 percent from the floor and scoring 39 points. The Cougars connected on 14-of-22 second half shots and continually pulled away from the Blue Dragons for the win. For the game, Barton County hit on 21-of-42 shots from the floor while Hutchinson hit just 19-of-51.

The Cougars put three players in double figures led by Michelle Deighton with 14 points. Heather Nittler added 12 points and 5 assists while Akia Harmon posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Katie Tedder had 19 points to lead Hutch.

The Cougars will look to make it back-to-back wins when Butler County visits Saturday night in what could be for the 7th spot in the Jayhawk West for the Region VI playoffs in March. Tip will be at 6 p.m. on Hall of Fame night at the Gym.
