Cougar women drop final two games at Midland
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team dropped its final two games of the Midland College Classic in Midland, Texas over the weekend, falling to Midland College and Clarendon College (Texas).

The Cougars lost to the No. 18 ranked Midland team Friday, 65-47 then dropped a tough contest Saturday to Clarendon, 56-52.

Barton is now 4-3 for the season.

Highlights
Against Coach Don Kayser said the best team the Cougars have played all year, Midland held Barton County to just 30 percent shooting from the floor. Midland hit just 33 percent, but put up 13 more shots thanks to a big lead in the rebounding department (53-39).

Barton fell behind by 9 in the first half in the first loss in five games for the Cougars. Michelle Deighton led the Cougars with 17 points followed by Erica Blair with 12. Blair also has seven rebounds in the contest.

In the loss to Clarendon Saturday afternoon, Barton looked to be in good shape for much of the contest. The Cougars led 29-18 at half, but could only manage 23 more second half points while Clarendon tossed in 38 second half points. Barton again struggled from the floor, hitting just 28 percent.

Heather Nittler had 14 points for the Cougars and Erica Blair added 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Barton will be at home again this weekend for a pair of games at the Pizza Hut Classic. The Cougars will take on the Sterling JV Friday at 8 p.m., then tangle with the Northwest Oklahoma JV Saturday at 4 p.m.
