Cougars go to 2-0 at Hutchinson Classic
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team ran its winning streak to three with a sweep of games at the Hutchinson Classic this weekend. Barton knocked off No. 9 ranked Iowa Western Friday by a 62-44 count, then knocked off the Doane College JV 68-42 Saturday for the 2-0 mark.

The Cougars are 3-1 for the season.

Highlights
In the win over No. 9 ranked Iowa Western, the Cougars strong defense proved to be the difference, holding Iowa Western to just 38 percent shooting from the floor. The Cougars, meanwhile, hit on 24-of-46 shots for 52 percent.

Heather Nittler scored 19 to pace the Cougars to the win, followed by Sue McIntosh with 16 and Christa Wilson with 12.

The Cougars followed that big win up with an easy triumph over the Doane College (Neb.) JV Saturday, 68-42. Once again Nittler led the way with 14, followed by Wilson with 12.

Barton bolted to an early led in the game, building a 36-11 halftime margin. Once again the defense had a big say in the game, holding Doane to just 22 percent from the floor.

Barton will be on the road again this weekend, traveling to Midland, Texas for the Midland College Classic. The Cougars will take on Southern Idaho at 7 p.m. Thursday. Barton will also play Midland College and Clarendon College (Texas) while in Texas.
