Cougars battle against Grizzlies comes up short
The Barton County Community College women's basketball team lost a defensive contest to Butler County Saturday night, as the Grizzlies scored a 48-32 win over the Cougars in El Dorado.

With the loss, the Cougars are now 1-4 in the Jayhawk West and 8-11 overall. Butler County is 2-3 and 11-8.

Highlights
The two teams slugged it out all night with Butler holding an 18-12 at halftime as both defenses gave each other fits in the opening 20 minutes. That stayed the same for much of the 2nd half, but Butler County began to find the basket in the final five minutes of the contest.

Benita Buggs proved to be the difference for Butler County as she connected on 8-of-19 shots from the floor to lead the Grizzlies with 20 points. Barton County was led by Heather Nittler with 10 points and Michelle Deighton with 12 rebounds.

Both teams struggled from the floor as Barton County hit just 22 percent for the game Butler County only 33 percent for the contest.
